About
Jennifer Roche is a versatile professional with more
than fifteen years of publishing and writing experience.
She launched Bowerbird Communications in 2007.
Jennifer began freelancing in 2004, and her articles
have since appeared in a variety of print and web
publications, including Revitalization, Chicago Parent,
Conscious Choice, and Galinsky.com.
In late 2007, Jennifer became the Guide to Chicago for
About.com, a New York Times Company. She's also a
contributor to the web journal Community Arts Network.
Jennifer has covered everything from green
infrastructure to the House of Blues Foundation, and
she has interviewed prominent figures such as activist
Helen Caldicott and Artforum critic Claire Bishop.
Jennifer also assists a variety of business clients with
their communication needs.
More than a decade at preeminent publishers
Prior to freelancing and launching Bowerbird, Jennifer
served as an executive editor for two years at The
McGraw-Hill Companies.
She held responsibility for managing book and media
projects with annual net revenues of more than $10
million. She also acquired titles, managed author
relations, negotiated contracts, set and met budgets,
and oversaw development and production of her lists.
Her subject areas included business management,
international business, internet strategy, and strategic
management.
Jennifer worked for six years for Mosby, a health
science publisher. She began as a developmental
editor and worked her way up to executive editor. Her
subject areas included emergency medical services,
clinical laboratory science, and respiratory care.
Prior to her time at Mosby, she could be found in the
production department of The University of Chicago
Press creating reprints of heady texts like Wittgenstein’
s Lectures on the Foundations of Mathematics and
Charles Lyell’s Principles of Geology, Volumes 1 – 3. She
then moved up to become a special projects editor in
their journals division.
Jennifer received her MLA from the University of Chicago
in 2002 and her B.S. from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign in 1987.
She lives on the north side of Chicago with her
husband, their two children and a dog named Boomer.
"Jennifer Roche was the executive editor in charge of this book and she has taken up this task with aplomb, shepherding the project through the various stages in a professional, fair, and enthusiastic way. It was clear from our early interactions with Jennifer . . . that McGraw-Hill/Irwin "got it" in terms of their thinking about the Internet and its impact on the educational curricula of business schools."
